Fireflies (Open)

Subject: Fireflies (Open) Sun May 16, 2010 8:21 pm

Hotaru swund her staff around her head. It made a swift noise in the air around it and then wacked a tree, feeling the vibaration go up her arms. She then once more made the same move, once more letting herself go into the attack. "I guess Ayaka is correct. I do need to get into the feeling that I am a ninja... Not apart of my mother." She mumbled letting out a hard sigh. "It just isn't fair." Hotaru had hit another tree, "That I have to do that to her." She then stood her staff up right and leaned against it. Suddenly a small swarm of fireflies flew up, a soft smile went across her face as she watched them fly by sending their signales to each other.
Hotaru then stood up straight and looked around the empty forest, close to home, yet so far way. "I wish I had someone to talk to." Hotaru mumbled streatching out, holding onto Ayumu tightly.

Hanataba had been walking around the forest areas surrounding Konoha. The day was normal, absolutely nothing seemed out of place. The day was calm, a small number of clouds glided lazily across the sky. Having decided to take the day off, Hanataba was taking a nice walk. She loved the peaceful feeling of nature all around her. Nature, flowers, it was all in her blood.

Not too far into her walk, she found someone else nearby. A girl, by the looks of it, she was holding a staff. Hmm, would it be too rude of me to just go right up to her and interrupt? she asked herself. Perhaps I'll make this part of the forest even more pretty, for the fun of it, it'll be a nice surprise! She then decided.

Forming a hand seal, she whispered, "Hanaton: Blossoming Field." Flowers grew all around the one before Hanataba, blooming beautifully and as swiftly as they had emerged from the ground. Let's see the reaction to my decorations, she thought, smiling at her creations.

Hotaru looked around to see flowers start to grow. This was a weird phenomena to her, never seeing a plant grow fast. Either this is a genjutsu or I'm going mad... Haruto looked around for the source of power. "This is, uh, very beautiful." Hotaru chuckled as she walked slowly, putting Ayumu away. She looked around between the trees and found a girl there, seeing that most of it came from her.
"Hello there." A small smile went across her.

"Hi," Hanataba said with a grin. "Sorry if I surprised you, but I thought it would be fun to add some beauty to the forest," she added. Stepping out from the brush into the forest, she asked, "Might I ask what you're doing out here?" With a friendly smile, she thought, It seems like this one may have been training, which is completely normal, I'm just attempting to make conversation. I dunno, but meeting someone in the woods just seems like a good reason to make a new friend. She's a Konoha ninja, I can tell that much. I could use more kunoichi friends.

"Oh, no." Hotaru's dark eyes widened open. "No need to apologize. And you did indeed add beauty to the forest." She looked around, her smile widened up abit. "Well, I'm just out here, messing around with my staff. After training on other things, I tend to forget how to use the poor thing."
Hotaru took Ayumu out, putting a firm grasp on it. "What about you?" She tilted her head slight. Taking note of the other kunoichi, Hotaru confirmed that she was an allie and possibly a new friend, concidering her case, it would be good to have some outside friends from her clan.

Hanataba smiled. "I just took today off, and decided to take a walk around. Days off can get boring sometimes," she said with a laugh. I was right, kunoichi, uses a staff huh? "I was never any good with a staff," she admitted, "Actually, physical combat in general isn't my strong suit, I prefer attacking with genjutsu or ninjutsu." Hanataba only knew one genjutsu, but it was true, she avoided physical combat if necessary.

"Ah, a day off. Yeah, I guess it can be boring." Hotaru pressed her lips together. She then listened to her talk about her skills and what she prefers to do. "Well my clan, tries to pan ourselves out. We try to learn weaponry, which then I guess makes us a little weaker in most areas." Hotaru chuckled slightly, knowing she had little in her jutsu kowldge as smart as she was. "The only thing we're not good at is genjutsu." She rubbed the back of her head.
"But we do try to be useful in the battle field." Hotaru nodded slowly thinking about that.

"I guess everyone does have their specialties," she said with a smile. "To be honest, I've always thought weaponry would be a fun thing to use in battle, but I've always been bad at it. Plus, my clan's jutsu only cover ninjutsu and genjutsu anyway. So, I stuck with those, a family tradition really." It was nice to talk with someone, Hanataba hadn't carried on a normal conversation in a while it seemed.

Hotaru smiled a little bigger understand with sticking with clan ways. "Weapons are fun to use." She chuckled at the thought, "Just an extension of ones self. And a lot of trust with the weapon." Hotaru nodded slightly. She enjoyed the conversation a lot, and talking about the basics made it easier to talk to Hanataba.
Finally, something popped in her head, they never introduced each other. "Ehheh, were are my manners." Hotaru laughed slight, her puffy pig tails bobbed slightly, "I'm Hotaru Suzuki." She smiled slightly bigger, which seemed slightly weird for unless she was about to smoke one of her elders or her parents. "And a genin of Konoha."

Hanataba blushed from embarrassment. "Of course, never introduced ourselves, how embarrassing!" she said. "I'm Hanataba Subarashii, Chunin." she added with a grin. Genin, huh? I remember what that was like, less than a year ago I was one too, she thought contentedly. "Sometimes I wonder if the Chunin Exams were worth it, I don't feel any different from when I was a Genin," she said with a laugh.

"Hanataba, that's a nice name." Hotaru lessened her smiled. A chunnin, how amazing. I better not get on her bad side today... Not until we know each other better She thought to herself, putting her arms behind her back.
"The Chunin Exams? From you, it sounds like it was easy. From some others, they say it's hard." Hotaru looked up in wonder and thought. "But how can you not feel differen? Shouldn't you be taking up some leadership positions?" She asked, since she studied the different ranks with her father.

"Well, you'd think so, but I've not brought it up with our new Lady Hokage yet, so... No leadership yet. Though, I would like teaching. I've always enjoyed mentoring the younger shinobi of the village, and nurturing their abilities, I want to be important to them really." she explained. "I guess I should bring it up with her soon, but for now I've just been doing normal missions. They are harder, but more fun anyway. I've not had too much challenge on any missions yet, but for the most part, I don't feel special or anything."

Hotaru nodded slowly, of course the missions were probably fun. Knowing that being a genin was, might, be easy. Depending on the team I get... She thought to herself. "Well at least you get some good missions, unlike being a genin who has to stay within the walls of the village." Hotaru chuckled slightly, sadened by the fact.

"Don't worry, you'll have your chance! Just work hard, I wasn't anything special as a Genin, I just tired hard and it paid off is all!" Hanataba said, reassuring her. "I hate to cut this short, but I need to go, maybe we can meet again sometime though. I do like you! We can hang out, as friends, if you want." She said, smiling. Afterwards, she walked off with a wave. "I need to grab some food, see you later I hope!"

Hotaru nodded at Hanataba's words. Work hard, I will do that. Once more, her infamous smile came and nodded, hanging out as friends, Hotaru would like that. "That sounds cool to me." She nodded her head. "Bye." Hotaru waved, happy to make a new friend like that.

Rai walked towards the girl as he put his hand on her shoulder with a smile, he looked at her and spoke softly, "Hey, Hotaru was it? I was just going to let you know you are going to die by my hands." He pulled out a kunai and stuck it at the base of her neck, he smiled as his free hand, was in his clay pouch eating. He pulled his left hand out and looked at the two centapeds it made. He tossed them forward, "Katsu!" as a puff of smoke appeared they were gone with a hole where they once were. This test was to see if she was worthy to be trained, or if she could be of any use in a sitiuation like this.

Hotaru frowned slight, hearing the voice, then her eyes widened up when she saw the kunai and explosion in front of her.
Shoot. She thought, her heart started to race, feeling this wasn't going to end well. I have to do something fast. Hotaru's midn raced to think of the possiblilities in this situation. She brought her hands and up and formed her handsigns as fast as she could.
"Poison Release." She said, in her mind this was on of her greatests jutsus she could make with out having to go into the first stage for her clan. Hotaru felt herself release the chakra out of her body, hoping this would scary whoever was behind, if not, she has a plan b.

He jumped back and dropped his kunai as a centaped came up and wrapped itself around her, he quickly stuffed his hands into his clay pouchs as they were eating quickly. He watched her closely as he had finished, he looked at what was molded. It was five spiders, he tossed them forward and made sure that she was still there, "Katsu!" he said as in a puff of smoke the spiders were on the ground and latched themselfs onto her arms, legs and back. "Now, Let me ask you a question, how badly do you want to live? I'll let you live if you sell out your comardes and this pathetic village!" Rai said in a deep voice unlike his own.

"Urg." Hotaru grunted out, glaring down at the centaped that wrap around her. That could've gone better. She thought, suddenly pinned down by molded spiders. Crap. There goes plan b.
Now, Let me ask you a question, how badly do you want to live? I'll let you live if you sell out your comardes and this pathetic village! She tried looking over to the person who said that. "I never will!" Hotaru's blood boiled over with anger. "I've been amde a ninja of Konoha and I will never give up that pride of knowing it." Hotaru tried keeping a smooth voice, it quivered slight, wishing someone else was there.
Like anyone's going to be in the forest during that time. Her dark eyes narrowed slightly.

Last chance, will your truely die for a village that doesn't hold anything for you? Sell them out and i will give you ultimate power. Hotaru closed her eyes tightly and took a deep breath as the person's jutsu tightened up.
She opened her eyes up with her final answer. Father said to expect something of this sort.
"My final answer is... No." Hotaru said with more calmness in her voice, she was a ninja and her job was to stay loyal no matter what, to her this was a test to see that, to herself and to this man.

"Too Bad, i suppose you would have been a good apprentice for akatsuki, Katsu!" The spiders and centaped exploded along with the second one hidden underneath her feet. It was nothing but a pop as they disappeared into smoke. "You passed, i suppose you are worthy of being my genin. I am Rai the host of the 8 tailed hachibi. Come to the ninja academy tommorrow to meet your other team mates. I am glad you didn't betray us though." He walked off waving good bye, that is how he was, he would put you at life or death and walk away as if it was normal.

Hotaru once more closed her eyes tightly listening to the mans last words, ready to die in the explosion. Suddenly everything became smoky, she squnted her eyes open.
You passed, i suppose you are worthy of being my genin. I am Rai the host of the 8 tailed hachibi. Hotaru sat up and looked at him, wanting to gap her mouth open, but kept it close. Come to the ninja academy tommorrow to meet your other team mates. I am glad you didn't betray us though. She sighed hard as Rai walked way.
"Yeah, I am too." She rubbed her forhead and reajusted her goggles, happy that she had many days ahead of her. She looked up to the sky between the trees.
Well if I'm starting tomorrow. I better head home. Hotaru stood up and dusted herself off and started back for the village.
