~*Number 2: Brother Versus Brother*~
After the horrid gym class, Naruto was off to drama. His legal guardian, Iruka, had suggested he take it. Not wanting to upset Iruka, Naruto agreed.
Naruto saw that the class was comprised of a large number of girls, and the minority being males. The only males he recognized were: Aburame Shino and, of course, Uchiha Sasuke. Of the girls he knew were: Haruno Sakura, Yamanaka Ino, and Hyuuga Hinata. There were some sophomores talking to the girls and Sasuke was talking to two of the seniors, who both wore black jackets with a red cloud on the back.
Naruto overheard Sasuke say, "I'm going to prove I'm better than you, onii-san."
One of the seniors, who did look an awful lot like Sasuke, said, "Foolish onii-chan, you may think that you've surpassed me, but it will never happen."
One senior, whose face reminded Naruto of a hungry shark somehow, said, "Oh, come on, Itachi, settle this after school. With a fight."
"I like that," Sasuke said.
"I will not lower myself to fighting with him, he is not yet powerful enough," Itachi replied.
Sasuke opened his mouth to argue, when the teacher spoke up, "Alright class," he said, "Welcome to drama. This class was my personal favorite in high school, hence my teaching of it. I am Jiraiya, Jiraiya-sensei to you all."
The rest of the school day was filled with teachers and their boring subjects. Naruto's teachers and their subjects were as listed: literature with Hatake Kakashi, math with Ebisu, history with Naruto's guardian, Umino Iruka. Art class had two teachers, who bickered constantly over who was the better artist, Deidara and Sasori. Biology was taught by Orochimaru.
After school, Naruto decided to go to football tryouts. He said he always wanted to play football, which was true enough, but he decided for sure after hearing a certain someone would be trying out as well.
When he got there, the coach was a man with spiky dark hair and a beard, he was smoking a cigarette when they first arrived. "Alright, so, these are the freshmen trying out? Humph, okay, let's give it a shot. My name is Sarutobi Asuma, nice to meet you all. I also run the shogi club for anyone interested in joining," he said. He looked over the candidates and stopped at Akimichi Choji. "Ah, you're built pretty big huh? That can be good in football, can you run?"
"Um... no sir..." Choji muttered.
"Hmm, we'll work on that," Asuma said. Asuma recognized Sasuke somehow, "You!" he said. "You played quarterback on the junior high team, didn't you?" he asked, "Nobody even touched you last season!!"
"I played quarterback on the junior varsity team!!" Naruto shouted. People laughed. "I was twice as good as Sasuke, the coach only liked him 'cause he was related to Itachi!!"
"Ah, that's right, Uchiha Itachi is an excellent quarterback, think you could be any better?" Asuma asked Sasuke.
"I'm much better than Itachi and that knuckle-headed loser over there combined," Sasuke said cooly.
"SASUKE!!" Naruto shouted. "Take it back, right now!!"
"No, because it's the truth," he responded, "Unless you have what it takes to prove me wrong?"
"You bet I do!!" Naruto snapped.
"Calm down, calm down!" Asuma said, standing between the two as Naruto stepped closer. "Alright, let's be civil, huh? Now, let's get to the tryouts huh?"
By the end of the tryouts Naruto had thrown only two bad passes, Sasuke had thrown zero. No doubt he was more likely to get quarterback out of the two. Asuma had sent them home, saying they'd be told their positions tomorrow at their first period.
Naruto was just on his way home, when he heard talking coming from an ally. It wasn't loud, but it was audible. Multiple voices, then he heard a voice he knew: Sakura. "Sasuke-kun, please stop!"
Naruto ran down the ally, he saw a group of people, Sasuke said, "Shut up, Sakura!! This doesn't involve you!"
Pushing his way through the crowd, he saw Sasuke, beaten up, bleeding from the mouth, standing before his older brother: Itachi. Itachi hardly had a scratch on him. "Foolish onii-chan, you never had a chance in this fight."
The shark faced boy stood behind Itachi. "Here I was," he said, "Ready to back up Itachi. Looks like he didn't need it, I should've known."
"Kisame, taunts are unnecessary here." Itachi replied cooly.
"Fine," Kisame said, "But let it be known!!" he turned to face the crowd, "That anyone who opposes our gang, Akatsuki, will be in some serious hurt, just like Sasuke here. Keep in mind, this is Itachi's brother, if he'd be this cruel to his own brother, you better fear for your lives!"
"HEY!!" Naruto shouted. "You two, back off!!"
"It was onii-chan who started the fight, I merely finished it," Itachi replied.
"I don't care, get away, now!! Or there'll be hell to pay, I promise you, and I never go back on my word!!" Naruto continued.
"You stupid loser, get away!! You heard shark-face over there, don't get them to mark you down as an enemy, it's just plain stupid!!" Sasuke bellowed.
"Humph, if that's so true, then you're the stupid one here," Naruto answered. "You want a fight, I'll give you one!! Sasuke, just back me up!"
Naruto ran at Itachi, picking up a broom that lay against the wall. He swung the broom, he heard it connect, but only with Itachi's palm: he'd caught it. Itachi pulled the broom away, and tossed it down the ally behind him. He turned back, and stepped around Naruto, stopping behind him. Itachi elbowed Naruto in the back, right along his spine. Then he turned, and roundhouse-kicked Naruto to the head, who fell onto his face, blood leaking from his mouth. Kisame stood over Naruto now, holding a large baseball bat with the word "Samehada" written across it. Kisame brought the bat down on Naruto's back, and repeated several times. "Don't mess with Akatsuki, runt!" he shouted, smiling darkly.
"Let's go, Kisame, our work here is more than finished," Itachi ordered.
"Fine, but I was having a lot of fun pounding the freshmeat," Kisame said.
